Life in the classroom

What Are Get School Experience Days?

Get School Experience days allow you to get unpaid experience in the classroom before you start to start your initial teacher training/ train to teach.

They can help you to:

  • decide if you want to train to be a teacher
  • discover if you’d like to teach in a primary or secondary school
  • build a relationship with a school you might want to work for later

What To Expect

During your experience, you’ll get to do things like:

  • observe lessons
  • see how teachers manage a classroom
  • find out how specific subjects are taught
  • speak to teachers and meet pupils
  • learn more about teacher training / how to train to teach – including the application and interview process

Who Are Get School Experience Days Aimed At?

In short, anyone who is considering teaching as a career.

How Do I Apply?

Get School Experience days are organised through the Department for Education (DfE) site.

If you would like to visit Reach Teacher Training and don’t see a date on the DfE site that works for you, please get in touch.
