Minimum requirements
The Department for Education (DfE) require all post-graduate ITT candidates to meet the following criteria before they enrol on an ITT programme.
Our courses will run between 2nd September 2026 – 22nd July 2027. Read on below to see our Teacher training requirements.
GCSEs
4 (C) or above in English & Maths (+ a Science if you want to teach Primary)
Degree
A Bachelor’s degree at 2:2 or above.
Right to Work
You must have the right to work full time in the UK. We are unable to sponsor visas.
What are we looking for?
The Department for Education (DfE) set out the minimum qualifications needed to become a teacher. We expect more.
Teachers who will ensure that every child can enjoy a life of choice and opportunity go above and beyond. These are the teachers we want to train. You do not need to be an excellent teacher today but you do need to have the capacity to grow into one in the future. Being a teacher means that you are resourceful, resilient and caring as well as believing that every child is capable of success. You need to want to teach children and young people how to grow into the kinds of adults society needs more of, as well as getting them to excel academically at your subject.
